Enter your fabric specs, yarn counts, and yarn prices to estimate yarn consumption and your fabric cost per meter in seconds.
Fabric costing is working out how much it costs to produce a length of fabric. For woven fabric, the main parts are the cost of warp yarn, the cost of weft yarn, and the weaving or processing cost. Adding these together gives you a total fabric cost and a cost per linear meter.
Warp weight in kg is EPI × fabric width (inches) × fabric length (yards) ÷ (840 × warp count), adjusted for crimp and waste, then converted from pounds to kg. Weft weight uses PPI and weft count in the same way. This calculator also applies a 1.15 factor to weft consumption.
Crimp is the extra yarn length used up as yarn bends over and under during weaving. Waste covers yarn lost in sizing, knotting, and handling. Both add to how much yarn you need, so they are entered together as one percentage for warp and one for weft.
Processing cost per meter is your PPI multiplied by the cost per pick. It is multiplied by the fabric length and added to the total yarn cost to get the total fabric cost. Divide that by the length to get the final cost per linear meter.
